Brief: When Tarren Production responded to an urgent call for a scenic build on a well-known social platform, we had no idea it would lead to an exciting collaboration with Lee Rath Productions and designer Stewart Charlesworth.
Where: O2 Indigo, London.
When: 4th July 2023, Showtime: 6:00 PM – 10:30 PM.
What We Did: The project involved building a full-scale stage set for Madame Joyce, the hit podcast-turned-live-show. Tarren supplied set construction, painting, and full build & break services. Our Technical Events Manager, Matt, worked closely with the team to bring their creative vision to life—on an exceptionally tight timeline.
The set design featured:
– Eight large flats with a striking forced perspective
– A raised platform with a fully functional door
– Hidden LED tape embedded throughout for dynamic lighting
– A free-standing structure, secured with stage weights and custom bracing, as floor fixings were not permitted
Challenges: With just three hours to build the entire structure, our team worked quickly and efficiently, seamlessly transitioning into tech rehearsals and the live show. After the show, we had only one hour to dismantle and clear the entire set. This fast-paced, high-pressure environment showcased our agility, craftsmanship, and ability to deliver high-impact productions on tight timelines.
