The Camping and Caravanning Club – Torchlight Festival 2023

Brief: In August 2023, we had the privilege of returning to Walesby Forest to deliver a breathtaking light trail for the Torchlight Festival, organised by The Camping and Caravanning Club. Working closely with Patrick, the Production Manager, we helped bring their vision to life—transforming the forest into an immersive, magical world of light.

What We Did: This marked our second light trail for Torchlight, and we introduced stunning new installations, including:

• Lantern Alley – A striking structure inspired by historic railway platform architecture. Featuring eight archways, each adorned with seven lanterns, this installation came alive with dynamic lighting effects, further enhanced by fog—whether from machines or Mother Nature herself!
• Fragments – A mesmerising display of mirror balls and moving head beams. As the beams bounced between the mirrors, they created dazzling shards of light, resembling fireflies weaving through the trees—a true spectacle, especially when enhanced by atmospheric smoke.

Challenges: Designing an immersive light trail in an outdoor forest setting posed natural challenges, from unpredictable weather to ensuring power and infrastructure worked seamlessly across the site. Careful planning and adaptability were key to making the installations shine in all conditions.

We love bringing light, creativity, and magic to this incredible festival and look forward to doing it all over again next year!
